Emergency Access

Whether you're a commercial property owner, a private business, a part-time resident, a senior living alone, or someone with a medical condition, Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue asks that you help us ensure we can access your property 24/7 in a non-destructive manner.
When we respond to emergencies at homes or businesses on the Ranch and no one is available to let us in, our only option may be to cut locks or force entry to assess the situation and provide assistance. This also applies to gates with padlocks or gate codes. Such delays can hinder our response time and may cause damage to your property.
One alternative is for you to provide us information such as:
- gate codes
- key locations
- contact numbers of a local resident with keys
- alarm codes
We send that information to our dispatch center where it is stored securely with your address. The information is then available to us should we need it in an emergency.
A better alternative is a device called a Knox Box

A Knox Box is a secure, small wall-safe-style box that you install on the exterior of your building. A Knox Padlock can be used for gates and outbuildings. Inside the Knox Box, you place a key to your property, and we have master keys that can unlock the Knox Box or Knox Padlock. These master keys are stored in locked containers on our fire trucks and ambulances, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access.
If you're interested in participating in this program, you’ll need to order the unit(s) — such as a Residential “Knox Box” or “Knox Padlock” — through us (we receive a benefit from the sale of Knox Box products).
